The Austin Film Society (AFS) recently announced the return of its popular Doc Days series, which showcases the best in documentary films. The event will take place from September 16-19 at the AFS Cinema, featuring a diverse lineup of films that explore a wide range of topics.
Among the films to be screened are “Ascension,” a portrait of a young monk in a Buddhist monastery, and “Faya Dayi,” which follows a young man’s journey through the coffee fields of his homeland. The series also includes “The Last Out,” a film that tells the story of three young Cuban baseball players as they navigate their way to the Major Leagues.
“We are thrilled to bring back Doc Days for another year of thought-provoking and inspiring documentaries,” says AFS CEO Rebecca Campbell. “These films offer a unique glimpse into different cultures and perspectives, and we are excited to share them with our audience.”
Tickets for Doc Days are now on sale, with both single screening and festival passes available for purchase. The event will also feature Q&A sessions with filmmakers and special guests, providing audiences with the opportunity to engage with the creative minds behind the films.
