Kelly takes oath as Chattahoochee Circuit District Attorney
Kelly Burke was officially sworn in as the Chattahoochee Circuit District Attorney on Monday morning.
The ceremony took place at the Harris County Courthouse in Hamilton, Georgia where Burke took the oath of office before a crowd of supporters.
Burke, who ran unopposed in the election, was appointed to the position earlier this year after former District Attorney Julia Slater resigned.
During her swearing in ceremony, Burke thanked her family, friends, and colleagues for their support and vowed to uphold the law and seek justice for the community.
Burke is the first female District Attorney to serve the Chattahoochee Circuit, which covers Chattahoochee, Harris, Marion, Muscogee, Talbot, and Taylor counties in Georgia.
She has over 20 years of legal experience, including working as a prosecutor in both the Chattahoochee Circuit and the city of Columbus.
Burke’s priorities as District Attorney include reducing crime rates, increasing public safety, and promoting fairness and transparency in the criminal justice system.
Many residents and officials have expressed confidence in Burke’s abilities to lead the district attorney’s office and handle the responsibilities of the position.
As she begins her tenure as District Attorney, Burke has stated that she is committed to serving the community and upholding the values of justice and integrity.
